Match scores

How well a role fits, with every point explained

A match score adds up four things Scout can check, each with its own line of why. When Scout can't check something, it says so instead of guessing.

How it works

  1. 01

    Add your experience

Your roles, years and skills, in a few minutes. Private until you choose to publish a profile.

  2. 02

    Search as usual

Every role in a thread gets a score next to it, private to you.

  3. 03

    Read the breakdown

Open a role to see each part: what you meet, what's missing and what Scout couldn't judge.

The details

Must-haves, 50 points

Each requirement in the listing checked against your experience. Ones Scout can't check count as half, never as a free pass.

Your search, 25 points

How closely the role matches what you asked for: the work, where and the kind of company.

Pay, 15 points

Whether the posted range reaches your pay floor. No posted pay scores low, honestly.

Skills, 10 points

Which of your listed skills the listing uses.

Questions

Can companies see my match score?
No. Scores are private to you and never shown to companies, on public pages or in analytics.
What does the confidence level mean?
How much of the role Scout could actually check against your profile. A thin profile or vague listing gives low confidence, and the score says so.
Is the score made by AI?
No. It's arithmetic over written rules, so you can read exactly where every point came from.
